This has been an incredibly sad week at UAW Local 249. This past Saturday there was a tragic incident involving the death of a member of UAW Local 249 from Truck Trim on C Crew. The KCAP Emergency Response Team and local authorities responded to the scene and an investigation is underway at this time. The leadership team will continue to cooperate with the local authorities on the investigation of this tragic incident.
Members can speak to a benefits representative to help you find a grief counselor or you may also reach out to our UAW Local 249 Members ESSP Representative at 816-459-1226 to seek any assistance needed.
We ask that every Member please keep our UAW Brother, His Family and Loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this very tragic time. As the details of services and assistance become available we will share them with the membership.
At this time we have been told Ford will be adding additional Super Days into the Truck System. August 4th and August 25th will be B-Crew Production days. August 12th will be an A-Crew Production day. Additional production may be added for September and October.
C-Crew Schedule changes – Sunday, September 2nd will be moved from a 5:30 pm start time to a 6:00 am start time. In addition, Monday, September 3rd will be a 6:00 am Voluntary Production day for C-Crew.
For the month of August Transit Production will remain on a 5X10 schedule with Saturday’s scheduled for Day Shift on August 4th and August 18th. Night shift Saturday production will be scheduled for August 11th and August 25th. Sometime in September we have been told the Transit System will return to a 40 hours schedule. However, an exact date has not been set yet.

UAW Local 249 Picnic
The UAW Local 249 Annual Picnic will be held on Labor Day, Monday, September 3, 2018 at LaBenite Park from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. You can pick up your bracelets at the Union Hall before August 24th for admission.
The Annual Local 249 Golf Tournament will be held on October 13th at Paradise Point Golf Course in Smithville, MO.
On August 2nd and 3rd, we will be partnering with the Salvation Army for a gate collection. The proceeds will be going towards the Salvation Army’s Children’s Shelter that is a safe haven for the Kansas City areas children that are removed from their homes because of abuse, abandonment or neglect. The shelter also provides emergency lodging in the event parents are temporarily unable to care for their children in a crisis.
