Subject: Plant Vacation Shutdown 2018

All In-Progression & Temporary (TPT/STS) Employees hired from August 2012 through June 2018: This communication is regarding the Plant’s July Shutdown period. Please pay close attention to the instructions below regarding whether or not to file for Unemployment Benefits.

Truck System STS & TPT Employees:

(unless otherwise notified by your Process Coach) Will be on layoff for the entire shutdown period, July 2, 2018 through July 15, 2018 and will return to work at the regularly scheduled start time during the week of July 16, 2018. You should follow the Unemployment filing instructions below. 

Truck System In-Progression Employees: (unless otherwise notified by your Process Coach) will be on vacation and/or layoff from July 2, 2018 through July 15, 2018 and will return to work at the regularly scheduled start time during the week of July 16, 2018.

You should only file for Unemployment for the second week of shutdown and either report 16 hours or 20 hours of vacation pay for that period.

To calculate the earnings to report, please use the following formula:

Total Earnings to Report = Hourly Rate x vacation pay and/or holiday pay, and/or hours worked (on 7/1/18 (C CREW EMPLOYEES) + shift premium if applicable

In-Progression Employees NOT Working Shutdown:

Use the chart below, and your check stub for verification, to determine the amount of vacation you will receive for the weeks of shutdown. You WILL NOT file for Unemployment for the first week of shutdown.

Transit System STS & TPT Employees:

Will be on layoff July 2, 2018 through July 8, 2018 and will return to work at the regularly scheduled start time on Monday, July 9, 2018. You should follow the Unemployment filing instructions below for the week of shutdown.

Transit System In-Progression Employees: (unless otherwise notified by your Process Coach) will be on vacation from July 2, 2018 through July 8, 2018 and will return to work at the regularly scheduled start time on Monday, July 9, 2018. You WILL NOT file for Unemployment for the week of vacation. 

UNEMPLOYMENT INFORMATION: TPT & STS Employees should call the Unemployment Office and report their unemployment status after 1:00 PM Sunday 7/8/18 to file your weekly claim for unemployment benefits for week ending 7/7/18.

For the second week of the shutdown, Truck Employees should call the Unemployment Office and report their unemployment status after 1:00 PM Sunday 7/15/18 to file your weekly claim for unemployment benefits for week ending 7/14/18. (PLEASE REMEMBER TO REPORT ANY VACATION PAY EARNED FOR THE WEEK)

Weekly claims can be filed on the Internet at www.moclaim.mo.gov or by telephone at 816-889-3101 (if that is a local call for you) or 800-320-2519. Both the telephone and Internet automated filing is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The telephone lines are available for weekly claim filing 24 hours a day from 1:00 p.m. on Sundays until 5:00 p.m. on Fridays, except for holiday weeks.
