Bulletins and Notices

Put your mind where your money is:

Building Your Financial Future 2.5 hours: This is a class about paying bills, but before you run for the hills, know that this class focuses not on your electric or water bills, but on the most important bill you’ll ever pay – the one to yourself. In this 2.5 hour class, members will learn the fundamentals of tax savings and investment options, how to use TESPHE to lay the foundation for a comfortable retirement, and how small changes today can make a great impact on their financial future.

Understanding Credit and Managing Debt 2.5 hours: Some debts are useful, like mortgages. Others, like high interest credit cards and paycheck loans aren’t so great.  When it comes to credit and debt, there are certain things you can do to make the most of your hard earned money.  Having good credit can save you money on interest rates, and paying off debt allows you to spend money on yourself – not on banks or credit card companies.  This class will help members understand how to achieve a good credit score and use debt to their advantage.

Classes will be held at the Union Hall on June 1, and 2, 2017 at 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

You must sign up for the classes at the Union Hall the week of May 15-19, 2017.

Primary Care Physician

While we were in Detroit it was brought to our attention that many members do not have a primary care physician when they need to visit a doctor. Many members are going to the Emergency Room for Non-Emergency situations, which is costing more than double than it would if you were to visit your primary care physician.  If you do not have a primary doctor please see one of the UAW Benefit Representatives at the Union Hall so they can help you get one.  If you need to be seen by a doctor for a non-emergency you can visit numerous Urgent Care centers around the plant and save yourself some money.  The reason this is an issue is that it can affect our membership.  By going to the Emergency Room for non-emergencies it can drive up the cost of our insurance premiums that are negotiated yearly in Kansas City.  This in turn can cause our co-pays and prescription costs to go up for all membership.
