My name is Todd Hillyard and I am the Bargaining Chairman of UAW Local 249 representing 7,300 union autoworkers at the Ford Motor Kansas City Assembly Plant. We are the proud builders of the NEW Aluminum Ford F-150 Pick- Up truck and the Transit Van.
The Kansas City Assembly Plant that I represent has been consistently listed as one of the most efficient assembly plants in North America among all manufacturers. The vehicles we build rank among the best for quality and value.
At the end of July 2011, the Escape was the best-selling compact SUV in the U.S. The 2011 & 2013 Ford F-150 won first place in the annual J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study in the Large Pickup category.
As Bargaining Chairman, my job is to lead Local 249’s bargaining committee and committee persons. Our task is to make sure that all UAW members are treated fairly on the job, enforce the union’s contract with the company, maintain safe working conditions in the plant, assure that the vehicles we build are of the highest quality, and ensure the long term job security of our members and the future of the Kansas City Assembly Plant.
Our union, the United Auto Workers, is committed to building strong communities by raising the living standard of working families. That means fair pay for a fair day’s work, comprehensive health insurance, pensions, and a voice on the job for all working men and women.
The UAW has a proud history of leading in the creation of the American middle class by fighting for – and winning – good wages, safe working conditions, health care insurance, pensions, and paid vacations. We seek to defend these rights for our members and extend them to all workers.
